You'll move from following sequences to understanding why a sequence works.
You'll learn frameworks for creating three distinct styles of yoga class, taking each from concept to completed sequence. We'll also explore everything that shapes the experience beyond the poses: theming and the dharma talk, music, lighting, room setup, energy, language, pacing and the feel of the room.
By the end, you won't be borrowing someone else's sequence. You'll be starting to recognize your own teaching style.
Core curriculum
Sequencing principles and class architecture: arrive → warm up → build → peak → integrate → rest
Building toward a peak pose or movement concept
Regressions, progressions and intelligent repetition
Transitions, pacing and timing
Theming: bringing philosophy, the subtle body and your own story into class
Verbal and visual cueing, and class management
The learning environment: music, lighting, room setup and energy
Writing three original sequences, with individual review and feedback
Teaching an original 30-minute class to the group
